The Volvo Ocean Race academy 'Try Sailing' initiative has taken off with perfect conditions at the V & A Waterfront. Warm sunshine and around 8- 10 knots of wind made for perfect conditions as the first time sailors found their sea legs aboard the Academy’s fleet of 5.6 metre Ludic dinghies, each carrying on their mainsails a cartoon image of the Academy's mascot, 'Wisdom' the Albatross chick. The excited faces, wide-eyes and smiles were very rewarding to see, as the youngsters had their first ever experiences on water. Sailing instructors from 'Isivunguvungu' academy assisted to take the boys and girls through their paces, and dont be surprised if we see more of the kids in the future. Volvo Ocean race 2020 / 21 perhaps?
